Advancing the science of learning
“That there could be a science of behavior,
of what we do,
of who we are?How could you resist that?”
— Donald M. Baer in Heward & Wood (2003, p. 302)
Putting Learners First.
Understanding How They Learn.
Every learner experiences the world differently. In the Stimulus Control & Acquisition Research (STAR) Lab, we study how the stimuli in a learner's environment—and the ways they attend to those stimuli—influence learning and behavior. By understanding these interactions, we can develop instructional practices that are effective, individualized, and meaningful in real-world contexts.
